EA: “oops, actually iOS Rock Band here to say”

Apparently the big blue error message I reported on yesterday telling users of the iOS version of Rock Band the game would be unavailable to play after May 31 was a ‘mistake’ according to EA.  That’s a pretty big mistake, and it took over a day for the publisher to acknowledge it.

I don’t believe EA for a second.  Twitter and Reddit both exploded and many emails were sent to Tim Cook at Apple and everybody at EA and I think they are covering their asses after getting caught pulling a douche move.

If that is a ‘mistake’ then how about this screenshot that The Register grabbed from the EA support forums?

This too has been ‘updated with the correct information’ and now states that:

Rock Band for iOS will remain live – the in-app message users received on Tuesday, May 1 was sent in error. We apologize for the confusion this caused. We’re working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible.

I, for one, am looking forward to this fix for your ‘greedy asshole’ error.  Perhaps you can deploy it to your management team, EA.
