New theme.

November 28th, 2009 Posted in Site News

I finally got my new theme working the way I like it (mostly).
It is based on a free GPL theme called ThrillingTheme.

New theme, again.  Thrilling was driving me nuts in a couple of ways – mostly the image sizing script and the fact that it ignored the ‘more’ tag.

How did you get it to show 10 categories on top? Please the info will be useful. I will soon use it. In my test run it shows only 7 categories on top. Thanks. I wish you had a comment reply subscription plugin.

    Hello Marc,

Please send a copy of your reply to my email too. I waited for a day but it seems you are away. Thanks a lot.

Hi. Sorry for not answering right away.

Regarding the Categories along the top: I am not certain how this works yet, and am currently looking into it further. Following is some observations that I have made but I have not actually looked at the code yet, but I will in the next couple days and give you an update as to exactly what it is doing.

It seems to not show the default category, and it only shows categories that have at least one post.

I have a category that is not showing, even though it has 10 posts and some of those recently. I think that this is due to the name of that category being really long, since that is the only difference between that and the others that do show.

So, I would try creating a post for the categories that are not showing on that list on your site.

Thank you for the suggestion regarding the comment subscription plugin. That is a good idea and I will look into implementing something soon.
